Brian was, until recently, an unsung hero and legend on Birmingham's fight scene. What marks Brain's history was his willingness to travel and facedown against what the world had to offer. Italy, Nigeria and Japan were a few stops on this man's world tour where after defeating Nigerian world flyweight contender Rafiu King In Lagos he was offered three, wives, cattle and a job coaching the national team. His bouts throughout the 1960's saw him compete 84 times against well known, international talent such as Super Scot Jackie Brown, Alan Rudkin, Italian Salvatore Burruni, Antonio Puddu, British champ Evan Armstrong and world featherwight champ Howard Winstone in '65 . Getting out pointed and tired out by world class opponents, Brian did however become midlands area champion at bantam and feather. No mean feat considering the calibre of the fighters who crammed into the lower divisons at the time.
