Despite no longer hosting boxing events Austin Amatuer Boxing Club has a wealth of history and achievements attached to it. Founded back in 1922 by the late Lord Austin with the aim of encouraging and promoting boxing in the area this project was able to uncover a remarkable history of a now quiet social club tucked away behind evergreens down tessall lane in Longribdge
Alf Harper - British Empire Games representative in 1938 and boxed for Nolte ABC then Austin before turning his talents to training.
Benny Fisher - eight times Midland Champion
Joe Froggatt, also eight times Midland Champion at his weight, was beaten at Wembley by the late Arthur Danahar.
Jimmy/johnny Moran Light Heavyweight, Heavyweight, Great Britain and Commonwealth Championship titles.
Eddie Ricketts, Tony Donachie and Bunny Johnson all passed through and boxed for the club at some point in their careers.
